Cravings

Everyone asks if I'm craving anything particular since becoming pregnant.  I guess I would say the main thing is ice cream.  Although, I ate plenty of ice cream before I was pregnant, so that's not anything new.  Since it is so hot outside, I've also been craving watermelon.  White powdered donuts sounds so delicious, but I've resisted buying them because I know I'll eat the entire box!  I've also indulged in Feltner Brothers a couple of times.  I've eaten a few Bliss cupcakes.  I've also made a homemade banana pudding.  I can't drink enough of the Great Value Raspberry Lemonade.  I've already gone through 12 quarts in 2 weeks.  I guess you would say my cravings are typical of a lady expecting.

The Adventures of Gus Gus

A couple of weeks ago, I was getting ready for work. I looked down and saw a little mouse in the corner of the bathroom. Naturally, I squealed like a little girl and stood up on my stool in case the mouse decided to run across my feet. The cats didn't see him at first and they didn't understand why I was freaking out. I yelled at Brook to come get the mouse, but he quickly ran back into the wall. The next day he appeared again and this time the cats were in the bathroom with me. They managed to chase him around the bathroom, but he ended up escaping again. I decided to name the mouse Gus Gus. Brook told me that naming him was a mistake because I might get attached, blah blah blah. We set up a mouse trap but it didn't work. We moved it from the bathroom to the kitchen. The cats kept sitting in front of the oven. We suspect Gus was living under or behind it. A few days later, the trap in the kitchen was gone. I asked Brook where he moved it and he said he saw Gus in our bedroom the night before. EEEEEEEKKKKK!!! Apparently, he crawled underneath our door (what the cats were doing at the time, I don't know, but they are obviously no good at mouse catching!). Brook didn't want to wake me because he knew I would've freaked out. Yes, I would have. Anyway, Brook discovered that Gus liked butterscotch candy so he put a butterscotch candy in the trap. Sure enough, the next night around 2:30 a.m., I heard something. I whispered to Brook and he said it was Gus Gus in the trap. We slowly got up and peaked in the corner. Gus Gus was trapped! Brook took him to the very back corner of our back yard and released him with his butterscotch candy. Hopefully, he has found a new home and isn't on his way back to our house.

Random Things

Last week, I got to check something off my bucket list. I got to see George Strait in concert with my dad. It was so awesome!

I attempted my mom's buttermilk bundt cake last weekend, and I was actually successful. That cake is dangerous!

I recently started watching Downton Abby on PBS and I absolutely love it. Great show!

Movie Marathons & First Date Music

During our week off from work, we had a couple of movie marathons. We started with the Harry Potter movies. Then, we moved on to The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

After our first week back at work, I was still in movie marathon mode, so we watched the Karate Kid movies last weekend. The first Karate Kid is one of my favorite movies from my childhood. My brother and I used to quote it all the time. I found this awesome shirt and couldn't resist ordering it. Anyone who grew up in the 80s and enjoyed Karate Kid can appreciate this. I also wanted to buy the Kobra Kai Never Die t-shirt, Strike First, Strike Hard, No Mercy t-shirt, and the Miyagi Do Karate t-shirts, but I figured that might be going a bit overboard. We also found out that Karate Kid III was nomintated for worst picture, worst actor, and worst supporting actor. haha! It is very bad, but I loved laughing at it.

Different subject...I was driving home the other night and started thinking about my first date with Brook and the music we listened to. He had a six disc cd player in his old Crowne Victoria. I love hearing the story about how he chose the music. We really didn't know each other at all, so he kind of just had to pick some stuff and hope I liked it. Anytime I listen to any of these albums, it takes me back to when we first started dating. I love all of them. I tried to create a playlist, but I can't seem to figure it out.
